We're looking for a GED Instructor who is passionate about making a difference in their community by developing young adults to their fullest potential. We need someone who is dedicated to meeting clients where they are academically and in life and helping them get to where they want to be.
The target populations of the GED Program are youth ages 16 to 26 who have special life circumstances, such as being homeless, pregnant, parenting, or involved in the juvenile justice system who have dropped out of school. As a GED Instructor at LifeWorks, you would help clients overcome the barriers that have held them back in the past.
The LifeWorks GED program operates your round. It is self-paced and offered on an "open entry/open exit" basis with new students starting every month, and most students remain in the Program for about four months. Daily lesson plans are designed to be flexible enough to address the needs and levels of all students, ranging from 4th to 12th grade levels.

The GED Instructor may also assist students in traditional case management areas, for example, obtaining IDs, finding stable housing and childcare and obtaining additional resources.
This position is for the person who wants to be a teacher, a case manager, and a counselor all rolled into one!
Part-Time 20 hours/week
|Duties:||The general duties...|
•Administers vocational/educational assessments as needed or requested.
•Develops, revises and evaluates curriculum to meet the needs of the students.
•Provides classroom instruction in a variety of fields at several levels.
•Evaluates students' progress regularly including using standardized assessment tools.
•Respond appropriately to the cultural differences present among the Agency’s clients.
•Leads group/classroom discussion and activities, including field trips.
•Meets with individual clients, as needed, to establish a safe, healthy relationship for learning, problem-solving, and participating in community activities; makes referrals and coordinates client services with community agencies, as appropriate.
•Prepares documentation of plans and activities to ensure compliance with contracts, and agency requirements.
|Qualifications:||REQUIRES a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education or a related field and 1+ year of related teaching experience; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.|
PREFERRED Bachelors Degree in Education + Certification in Secondary Education; 2 years of experience teaching high school, adult learners or non-traditional students in one of the GED subject areas. Experience working with at risk youth. Experience teaching GED.
