|Description:||The LifeWorks Street Outreach Program is participating in a national research project funded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.|
The research project is being coordinated by the University of Nebraska in 11 cities across the nation, in nonprofits that serve Runaway and Homeless Youth.
We are looking for two part-time Research Assistants that are available to work up to 20 hours a week, generally between the hours of 10am to 4pm. This position is for 6 months, starting early January. A mandatory training is being held in Nebraska, so all candidates must be available to travel out of town from January 12 to 18.
Our ideal researchers will have strong communication skills and the ability to be flexible and to work independently to conduct sound research in the method prescribed by the research leads.
Interviews will take approximately 1-1.5 hrs with homeless, street youth up to 21 years old. This research project will be exciting, as we are collaborating with other researchers across the country. The goal of the research is to identify characteristics of homeless street youth that will lead to the creation of quantifiable performance measures for agencies serving this population with Federal funding.
|Duties:||•Conduct interviews with respondents (which includes obtaining informed consent) according to practices and guidelines outlined by grant requirements.|
•Communicate effectively with homeless and runaway youth.
•Distribute RDS coupons.
•Distribute gift card incentives for interview participation and for recruitment.
•Properly filing necessary paperwork (like consent forms and receipts) and updating necessary electronic records.
|Qualifications:||•Requires a Bachelor's degree in social or behavioral sciences or administrative field;|
•Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous research experience and/or previous experience with homeless populations, especially youth homeless
Experience with homeless and/or disadvantaged youth and young adults
