LifeWorks Teen Parent Services offers case management, parenting groups and support for pregnant and parenting teenagers (up to age 20). Teens work with case managers to develop and implement a plan to reach educational and parenting goals. Each plan is based on the strengths, talents and goals of the individual – there is no one-size-fits all.
Parenting support groups are also offered at area school and community locations to develop parenting knowledge and a supportive network for young parents.
Our ideal candidate is familiar with a strength-based service approach, labor and delivery, child development and parenting, healthy relationships, and experienced with the sexual attitudes of teens and community resources. An attention to detail, meticulous organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to changing environments and personalities are characteristics we look for in our Case Managers.
This position offers opportunities to develop one-on-one relationships with teens, to network with other professionals, increase your knowledge of community resources, and to be a leader in the community as a service provider.
HOURS: Monday-Friday 9a-5p; Occasional evenings and weekends required.
This position is located at our EAST site.
|Duties:||•Provides case management services on all cases and coordinates services with other agencies. Duties may include intake, case management, monitoring, resource referral, and group facilitation. |
•May conduct education/prevention presentations and facilitate support groups.
•Maintains direct contact with clients through home, school, and/or field visits, providing education and assistance in the area of specialty.
•Provides referrals and assists clients in accessing assistance from community resources.
•Communicates with community agencies regarding services and appointments. Transports clients to agencies and services, as needed.
•Collaborates with community agencies to advocate for client population needs.
•Maintains case records and documentation as appropriate, including service plans, progress notes, intake reports, and incident reports.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in behavioral science or a related field; Requires 3+ years of related experience; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working 1:1 with teens, especially teen parents;
Experience working with parents, infants/children in supportive/empowerment roles; Social Services, Education with Spanish-speaking populations;
Knowledgeable of infant/child development
Knowledge and experience working with Austin-area resources and systems.
Bilingual - able to speak, read & write fluently in Spanish.
